As part of a nationwide programme partnering Table Tennis England with Parkinson’s UK a new Table Tennis session for people with Parkinson’s and their carers is due to start on Tuesday 18th April at Castle Leisure Centre in Bury, 12:45pm to 2:15pm. The first four sessions, run by Ramsbottom Table Tennis Academy, are free. Bats and balls will be provided.

Growing research shows that regular physical activity can help manage symptoms of Parkinson’s, but there are particular benefits associated with participation in table tennis.

Reasoning behind this extends to the idea that table tennis is not only aerobic, but requires fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, balance and stimulates various parts of the brain.
