Table Tennis England is launching a new virtual competition for schools across England to enter free of charge next month.

Because of the pandemic restrictions, the schools competitions which are normally organised every year at local, regional and national levels have been cancelled.

This includes all stages of the Butterfly National Schools Team and National Schools Individual Championships, which give thousands of youngsters every year the chance to represent their schools.

Table Tennis England has therefore sought out new ways to allow students to engage in some form of competitive table tennis during the pandemic and we now announce the TT Kidz Virtual Schools Championship – which will allow schools to enter their students into a fun, inspiring and engaging championship for entire year groups to compete as teams against other schools across England.

The TT Kidz Virtual Schools Championship will be completely free to enter and will provide schools and teachers with a range of physical and creative challenges to complete over six weeks.

The challenges are inclusive and easy to set up and deliver, meaning any student can compete in the championship and represent their school, no matter their knowledge or ability in the sport. All the challenges can be completed within classrooms or outdoor spaces using minimal table tennis equipment.

Schools can complete the challenges in their own time with as many students as they prefer within each year group. At the end of the six weeks, school staff members can then submit their final scores to Table Tennis England to be in with a chance of winning prizes for individual students and the school as a whole.

The TT Kidz Virtual Schools Championship will cater for Key stage 2-3 students with a national winner selected for each academic year group.
