England coach Ryan Jenkins has been chosen to mentor two female Asian coaches by the ITTF.
Jenkins, who is the Aspire Squad Lead Coach, will work with Anisara Muangsuk of Thailand and Houri Sadat Seyed Aghamiri of Iran over the next few months through ITTF Asia.
He will arrange Zoom calls to view their sessions live, offering guidance and feedback to help them improve their coaching, as well as facilitating several essays for them to submit.
The essay topics vary from what is their coaching philosophy to how coaching differs with male and female players. There will be an essay on how technology is used in their daily coaching.
Jenkins said: “It’s vital to pass onto a new generation what I’ve been able to learn through being mentored myself previously. Being part of the 2017 ITTF mentoring scheme myself in Europe, there’s a clear link in progress with me now the mentee.
“Linking in with two young candidates from ITTF Asia gives me a chance to see coaching ideas from other parts of the world and this will benefit me greatly in my work with our ITTF Hopes and ETTU programme players going forward.”
