One of Britain’s leading Junior Table Tennis Championships, the Tees Active Cleveland Junior 4 Star Championship takes place at Thornaby Pavilion this weekend with a strong entry from all parts of the country.
In the Junior Boys’ Singles, Naphong Boonyaprapa from Nottingham is the top seed whilst Rhys Davies from Lancashire is in second place. In third, due to a seeding substitution, is Daniel Jones of Staffordshire who is seeded to play Thomas Rayner in the quarter-finals, whilst Josh Weatherby is fourth.
In the Girls’ Singles, Erin Green of Nottingham is top seed with Megan Jones of Shropshire in second. Anna Green from Nottingham is third with Samadhi Udamulla from Hertfordshire is fourth.
The Cleveland Open is running a U17 Boys’ event for the first time with Naphong Boonyaprapa as the top seed and James Hamblett as second seed.
In the U17 Girls’ event, Megan Jones is top seed and Anna Green from Nottingham is second.
In the Cadet Boys’ event, Ralph Pattison from Essex is top seed whilst Yiannis Kazantidis, (Essex) and Joseph Dennison (Lancashire) are also seeded. In the Cadet Girls, Bethany Ellis from Lancashire is top seed followed by Connie Dumelow from Derbyshire and Sienna Jetha.
In the U13 Boys, the top seeds are Abraham Sellado from Yorkshire and Max Radiven from Middlesex, whilst in the U13 Girls’ event, Sienna Jetha from Hertfordshire is the top seed and Brooke Morris from Lancashire is in second place.
On Saturday the traditional team event is taking place. In the Boys’ event, Formby are top seeds with Rhys Davies and Naphong Boonyaprapa. The Urban team of Jake Haygarth and James Hamblett and the Ormesby B team Tom Rayner and Josh Weatherby are also seeded.
In the Junior Girls’ team, the top seeds are Erin Green and Megan Jones of Draycott, with Anna Piercey and Rachel Iles of Cippenham in second place.
