Social media, live streaming and photography guidance
Guidelines for parents, spectators and players on social media, taking photos, live streaming or video at table tennis events and travelling to or hosting events.
Table Tennis England takes its responsibility of providing advice and guidelines for safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults very seriously.
Social media
Technology has transformed the way we communicate, making it easy to share information quickly and widely. Social media can be a powerful tool for promoting table tennis and increasing the sport’s visibility and accessibility to existing and new audiences. However, inappropriate or unsafe use of digital communication can expose individuals – especially children and vulnerable adults – to risk. Everyone involved in table tennis must ensure they are using these tools in a safe, respectful, and appropriate manner.
The guidelines below are intended to be used by both young people and adults alike in order to use social media safely and in a manner that makes the most of the advantages. For the purposes of these documents, young people are defined as under the age of 18.
Photography, Livestreaming and Video
Table Tennis England is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants. We understand the importance of promoting our sport and celebrating success through photography, live streaming and video and this is a big part of our Engagement Strategy. However, we must also protect the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults in our sport by managing how and when footage is captured, shared, and stored. The documents below aim to support TTE and the table tennis community to do this.
