Free ping pong is back at The Bridges Shopping Centre in Sunderland, as their popular Ping Pong Parlour reopened its doors on Monday 30th May.
The Parlour originally opened in March 2019, after Table Tennis England approached the centre with a proposal for the project. The Bridges had heard about the initiative from other centres who had their own Parlour, and launched the project to fill an empty unit, help bolster footfall, swell time and subsequent retailer sales.
Samantha Czwordon-Auld, Marketing and Communications Manager at the Bridges notes how the Ping Pong Parlour project was “…a great piece of centre enlivenment and it’s fantastic to be able to encourage our shoppers and the residents of Sunderland to be active. It’s also a brilliant initiative for young people, simply giving them something positive to do.”
Prior to COVID-19, the Ping Pong Parlour was always busy at the centre and was very well received by everyone who visited. Both the centre and Table Tennis England are excited that ping pong is back on the table at The Bridges and are looking forward to welcoming players back through the doors!
