Liam Pitchford went out of the WTT Contender Lima event at the first hurdle as he was beaten by a Japanese opponent.

Seeded fifth, Pitchford recovered from losing the first game to level the last 32 match against Ryoichi Yoshiyama, currently ranked at 423.

The next two games were close, but Liam was edged out 11-9, 12-10, though at one stage he held a five-point lead in the fourth.

It ends English interest in the tournament in Peru.
