Match format
Each fixture is made up of five singles matches – so the first country to win three matches will take the overall victory.
In the individual matches, it is also best of five, so the first player to win three games will gain a point for their country. Each game is first to 11 points – but if it gets to 10-10 then the first player to go two points ahead wins the game.
If a country goes 3-0 or 3-1 ahead, then the remaining matches will not be played.
The Championships
This is stage 1 of the European Team Championships. Finishing in the top two in the group of three nations will see England qualify directly for the final stage of the Championships, to be held in Sweden later this year.
England got their qualifyng campaign off to a winning start, beating Serbia 3-2 in the away fixture in December. The return match against France takes place on Sunday January 29th.
