The World Veterans Championships are back after a five-year break, and English athletes are in the hunt for medals in Oman.
Hundreds of veterans, aged from 40 to 90, have been in action in the first championships since Las Vegas 2018, because of the pandemic.
Sandra Rider is into the semi-finals of the WS70 category, where she will play TingHing Cheung of the USA on Saturday, while Betty Bird will face Marianne Blasberg of Germany in the WS85 semi-finals on the same day.
Also on Saturday, Lorestas Trumpauskas will contest the MS50 semi-finals against Ramezanali Mahmoudi Golestani of Iran.
In other highlights, Diccon Gray (pictured above) was beaten in the quarter-finals of the MS60, going down 3-0 (11-4, 11-4, 11-8) to Zsolt-Georg Bohm of Germany.
Kevin Nicholls was beaten in the semi-finals of the MS50 Consolation, 3-1 (12-10, 7-11, 11-4, 11-9) by Pavel Hauschwitz of Czech Republic.
The knockout rounds of the doubles take place on Friday, with plenty of English involvement, before the key singles matches on Saturday.
