When Table Tennis United was launched, one of the key objectives in the strategy was to ‘establish an Area network’ to provide support to the table tennis community and partners on a local level. On 1st February 2023 the Area networks were launched with each Area Manager, who are responsible for leading their Area, starting in post. This marked a big step forward in realising the key objective of establishing the Area Networks.
The next stage is to now establish the Local Organising Groups, which will exist in each Area and support and guide the Area Manager to deliver the sport’s priorities. The groups will also help develop and implement a Local Delivery Plan that will help contribute to a key Pledge in Table Tennis United – “Table tennis will be a thriving community – a sport for everyone with no barriers to taking part”. As a result we are now looking to appoint a Chair for each of the Local Organising Groups to work with the Area Managers. The position is a crucial one that will help drive Table Tennis United and work with the Area Manager to build a Local Organising Group made up of local people that can further develop the sport.
We are looking for people from those Areas as we want that local insight and understanding. Partnership and relationship building is a crucial and necessary skill. We want forward-thinking and dynamic individuals that can unite people and get people and organisations to buy into the benefits and opportunities table tennis brings. Crucially they will need to be able to support the Area Manager effectively.
Andrew Wilesmith, Head of Development for Table Tennis England says this about the role;
“It’s really exciting we have got to the point where we can look to capture and enhance the local voices of the sport through the Chair role, which will be an exciting opportunity for dynamic individuals who want to drive the sport forward. The importance of the Local Organising Groups can’t be understated as they will be crucial in guiding a focused and robust Local Delivery Plan. These groups will bring a variety of people and organisations together from both the table tennis community and outside but with a single focus – to make table tennis a thriving community with no barriers to taking part.
So I would like to encourage the table tennis community to read the position information and, if what we are looking for sounds like you, then I really look forward to your application.”
