Commonwealth Games gold medallist Jack Hunter-Spivey has presented a feature on ITV to highlight some of the key unsung heroes who have helped him to the top of the sport.

Halton TTC in Widnes has a prominent place in the piece, which aired in the Granada region and can be watched on the itvX website.

In it, Jack visits the club to talk to founder Karen Tonge OBE and coach Frank James about how they helped launch him to global success, including a bronze medal at the Tokyo Paralympics.

Jack also speaks to his brother Chris and volunteer Joe Tighe about their vital contributions to his journey and how they helped him to overcome challenges along the way.

And his girlfriend Lucy Waller speaks candidly about how she has helped him to face up to mental health challenges.

Jack, who recently won the Class 2-5 singles title at the Mark Bates Ltd National Championships, ends by telling viewers: “Whether it’s grassroots sports or Commonwealth Games champions, unsung heroes are the backbones of every athlete’s dreams.

“So, just know when you’re looking at a Commonwealth Games podium or your Sunday league football team, everyone has unsung heroes.”
