The Great Britain and Northern Ireland team won a total of nine medals at the World Transplant Games in Perth, Australia.

Four of them were golds – and three of them came in the junior categories as Erin McIlvaney (U12-14 Girls’ Singles), Eloise Lowrie (U15-17 Girls’ Singles) and Kristof Polgar (U15-17 Boys’ Singles) all came out on top.

The final gold was for Boryana Nankova, who defeated compatriot Helen Tasker in the 60-69 Women’s Singles class final.

Boryana & Tasker also teamed up to take silver in the 50+ Women’s Doubles, losing out to Hong Kong duo Yiping Liu & Yin Wah Yu in the gold medal match.

A third silver medal went to Millie Stobie Platts in the 18-29 Women’s Singles, missing out to Austria’s Stefanie Krenmayer in a round-robin competition in which Jade Carr earned a bronze for GBNI.

A further bronze was won by Stuart Robbins & Alexanda Bell in the 19-29 Men’s Doubles.

This was the 24th edition of the World Transplant Games, which was first held in Portsmouth in 1978. A week-long programme of high exertion and low impact sports, along with many social and cultural events, was enjoyed by elite and social athletes, with 2,500 participants from more than 60 nations.
