The WTT Youth Contender Platja D’Aro in Girona, is underway and England has representation with some top prospects competing.
Thirteen British players are taking part across four age categories ranging from U13 through to U19. The participating players are: Toby Ellis – U19; Anna Hursey – U19; Benjamin Piggott – U19; Louis Price – U19; Adam Dennison – U19, U17; Sophie Earley – U19, U17; Connor Green – U19, U17; Joseph Hunter – U19, U17; Jakub Piwowar – U19, U17; Larry Trumpauskas – U19, U17; Ralph Pattison – U17, U15; Kacper Piwowar – U15, U13; Abraham Sellado – U15, U13
UPDATE (AS AT 2PM 11/5/23)
In the Under 17 boys event, Ralph Pattison, Joseph Hunter and Adam Dennision and Larry Trumpauskas all made it through the group stage before going out in the first knock-out round of 64. Connor Green made it one stage further, losing in the round of 32 to Hsien-Chia Hsu of China.
In the Under 13 boys event, Kacper Piwowar won his group and Abraham Sellado was second in his, both boys winning their round of 16 matches and now through to the Quarter-finals. Kacper meets Matt Closset (Belgium) and Abraham plays Ladimir Mayorov (Spain). These matches are due to be played at 5pm UK time 11/5/23.
