Sophie Earley found the top seed and eventual champion in top form as she went out of the WTT Youth Star Contender Lima in the last 16.

Earley should not have been playing Park Gahyeon at that stage of the event, but the South Korean surprisingly lost one of her group matches.

But it did not hold her back in the end as she saw off Earley in three and went on to take the gold by defeating compatriot Lee Seungeun in the final. Seungeun had earlier defeated Earley’s GB colleague Anna Hursey in the semi-finals.

Earley & Hursey reached the semi-finals of the girls’ doubles, again losing to South Korean opposition in the shape of second seeds Seungeun & Choi Nahyun – who went on to win gold.

In the mixed doubles, Earley & Yadier Lopez of Puerto Rico went out in the first round, while Hursey & Remi Chambet-Weil (NED) reached the semi-finals, losing to top seeds and eventual champions Lee Hoyun & Park Gahyeon of South Korea.
