Liao Cheng-Ting added the scalp of Liam Pitchford to that of Sam Walker at the WTT Star Contender Ljubljana as English interest in the competition ended.

As he had against Walker in the qualifying rounds, Chinese Taipei’s Liao (WR 91) came from 2-1 down to progress, knocking Pitchford out in a decider in the last 64. He next faces compatriot and sixth seed Lin Yun-Ju (WR 8).

In the doubles, Pitchford & Tom Jarvis went out in the last 16 to Iranians Noshad Alamiyan & Nima Alamian in a close three-game match.
