Tin-Tin Ho and Tom Jarvis were both knocked out of the WTT Feeder in Portugal today by higher-ranked players.

Ho, currently ranked at No 168 in the world, had a tough match against second seed and world No 38 Prithika Pavade of France.

The English No 1 was beaten in three as she was unable to engineer an opening to take a game and put pressure on her opponent, though she did lead in the early stages of games two and three.

Meanwhile, Jarvis Tom Jarvis (WR 156) took on Yew En Koen Pang (WR 101) of Singapore in his last-64 clash in the Men’s Singles.

Jarvis lost the opening two matches 11-9 but reduced the deficit in the third as a run of four points from 6-5 put him in charge. But he could not convert a 7-5 lead in the fourth as he lost it 11-8.

Mari Baldwin and Emily Bolton, both currently unranked, went out in the qualifying rounds yesterday.

Bolton took the first game against Poland’s Ilona Sztwiertnia (WR 287) but was defeated in four, while Baldwin went out in three to Singapore’s Lian Qian Ser (WR 237).

In the doubles, Ho & Charlotte Carey of Wales paired up and looked good to advance to the main draw when they held a 2-0 lead against Ser & Jingyi Zhou of Singapore. However, their opponents came back to win in five, though the decider could have gone either way and the British pair saved two match points before succumbing to the third.
