Felix Thomis finished sixth and Ben Piggott 21st out of 40 competitors at the Finlandia Open.
Thomis (pictured above) got through to the top bracket of knockouts, for first to 16th positions, defeating Aleksi Rasanen of the host nation 3-2 (11-9, 11-7, 8-11, 8-11, 14-12) in the first round.
He then faced Finland’s Benedek Olah, the world No 120 who went on to win the competition, and was defeated 3-1 (11-5, 11-3, 7-11, 11-8).
In the play-offs for positions 3-6, Thomis first lost to Mattias Mongiusti of San Marino 3-1 (11-8, 8-11, 11-9, 12-10) and then to Noe Keusch of Switzerland 3-2 (8-11, 8-11, 12-10, 11-4, 11-3)
Piggott went into the bracket for 17th-24th after the opening phase and was then defeated in five by Numa Ulrich of Switzerland (10-12, 13-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-4).
He then won two further play-off rounds against Finnish players, both in four games, to end in 21st place overall.
In the under-21s, Thomis went through to the second stage as a group runner-up, overcoming Sam Kohravi of Finland 3-2 and losing 3-1 to Numa Ulrich of Switzerland. He was then defeated in five in the round of 16 by Ingi Rodriguez of Iceland.
Piggott went out in the group stage after defeats to Madis Moos of Estonia (3-2) and Juho Kahlos of Finland (3-0).
