Do you know a volunteer who has made a significant impact at your table tennis club, league, school, or organisation in the last 12 months?
If so, there are just a few days left to nominate them in the Volunteer of the Year category within the Pride of Table Tennis Awards.
Perhaps you know someone like 2022 Female Volunteer of the Year Winner, Josephine Boyd. Josephine was nominated for being instrumental in the setting up of Frome Table Tennis club and put a great deal of time and effort into making the club into the success it currently is.
Jo created a vibrant club that promotes table tennis at all levels in the local area. The club now has 45 members and runs two club sessions a week as well as competing in the local league and organising “friendly” matches with other clubs.
Jo is particularly good at encouraging and promoting the involvement female players, who are under-represented in the league and in the sport generally. Jo’s efforts have ensured the club and league are able to grow and thrive.
Or Maybe you know someone like 2022 Male Volunteer of the Year, Stephen Longmoor. Steve (pictured above with then Table Tennis England Director Susie Venner) returned to table tennis after a ‘short’ break of 41 years.
Since then, Steve he done much to transform N&B’s Table Tennis Club in Weston-super-Mare, from providing welcoming coaching sessions to a range of abilities, setting up the club’s website & social media, organising informal gatherings to enthuse the club members, running ladder leagues and providing mentorship on the Young Ambassador scheme, alongside completing his coaching badges and becoming Somerset’s national councillor. Steve’s commitment and desire to give back to the sport made a big difference.
The Male/Female Volunteer of the Year Award recognises a person over 25 years of age for their dedication, commitment, or impact in/on table tennis on a voluntary basis over the past 12 months. This may take place in a club, local community, league, county, schools county, regional or national level and includes those young people involved in coaching and/or officiating.
If you know an inspirational Volunteer who is worthy of a Pride of Table Tennis award, now is the time to nominate them! Each person nominated will receive a certificate and be put forward to national awards.
Nominations close at 11:59pm on Monday January 22 – we are also inviting nominations in the Young Volunteer of the Year (Male and Female), Contribution to Table Tennis and Lifetime Achievement Awards.
