Liam Pitchford is out of the World Mixed Doubles Olympic Qualification tournament with a shoulder injury picked up in a French League match.
It means he and partner Anna Hursey miss the tournament, which starts in Havirov, Chechia, tomorrow – and with the deadline for replacements having passed, it means GB will be unrepresented and cannot therefore qualify a pair for this summer’s Olympics.
The rotator cuff injury requires a few weeks of rest and rehabilitation, meaning Pitchford will also miss the Singles World Cup in Macao later this month.
