Connor Green and Tianer Yu are the top seeds trying to stay ahead of the chasing pack when the inaugural National Series gets under way this weekend.

The new competition provides a regular high-quality competitive opportunity for the top cohort in each youth age-group.

There are multiple divisions of six players in each age/gender category, played in a round robin format, that will see promotion and relegation between divisions after each round, to create regular tight competitive matches amongst the top ranked players.

Green and Yu will head the respective boys’ and girls’ divisions in the Under-19 age group, hosted by Joola Plymouth TTC.

The top seeds in the Under-13 age group are Zihan Lin and Assil Sarri – that age group is hosted by Draycott & Long Eaton TTC.

The Under-15s, at St Neots TTC, will not have a top division for the first weekend of competition, as a number of the players are competing abroad and have a protected space in the top tier. Division One will be introduced for the second round of the Series in October – but players in Division Two will still be able to earn promotion this weekend.

Keep an eye on our social media channels next week for details of how to watch selected highlights from the competition – and the results and league standings will appear on our website next week.
