In the singles, even from the start it never looked in doubt for Max, who took 3-0 wins over Olti Behluli of Kosovo (3, 1, 8), and Bulgaria’s Georgi Dragiyski (3, 4, 6). From here, Max was given a bye in the Round of 16, to advance straight to the quarter finals. At this stage, he faced fellow English player Oscar Nikolli, where Radiven took another 3-0 sweep (8, 7, 6).

The semi finals presented Max’s toughest test of the U15s yet, as he faced Boris Bonchev of Bulgaria. After taking the opening game 12-10, Max then dropped his first set of the event, by losing the next 9-11. Although, it was back to business for the rest of the match, as he eased into the final after winning 11-3, and 11-5.

In the final, he was up against Mongolian, Ulziibat Munkhulzii. It was a close encounter, but ultimately, Max showed his prowess by taking all three games 11-9, to seal his second WTT singles title after winning in Batumi last month.

Throughout the few days in Kosovo, he had partnered with Khulan Khurelotgon of Mongolia in the mixed doubles event. After seeing off Oscar Nikolli (ENG) and Afroditi Sarikaki (GRE) in the Round of 16 3-0, before defeating Bulgarian pair Viktor Dimitrov, and Kalina Stefanova 3-1.

The semi final also presented a hurdle to navigate, against Ukraine’s Kyrylo Spyrydonov and Bulgaria’s Beloslava Balkanska. After going down 1-0, they rallied back to level the match, but shortly found themselves against the wall at 2-1 down. But after some excellent play and resolve, Radiven and Munkhulzii turned the match on it’s head to win 3-2, and advance to the final.

Here they met Turkish pair Ahmet Tukenmez and Zeynep Duran, but the final was much more routine, as the result finished 3-0 (4, 5, 6).

Max had also taken part in the U17 Boys’ Singles event, reaching the quarter final stage, losing out to Yoan Velichkov of Bulgaria, 3-0.

The other English athletes taking part in Pristina, included Connor Green who advanced from his group in the U19 event with 3-0 wins against Georgios Kosmas (GRE) and Adriatik Maloku (XKX). He then defeated Mongolia’s Munkh-Ochir Manlaijargal 3-1, before ultimately losing out in the quarter finals to South Korea’s Gil Minseok. Connor Green was due to take part in the U19 Mixed Doubles with Anna Hursey (WAL) but injury prevented participation.

Oscar Nikolli and Nishil Shah both reached the quarter finals of the U15 Boys’ Singles, with Nikolli losing to out to Radiven, and Shah missing out on a semi finals spot to Boris Bonchev (BUL) but both went one better in the U13 Boys’ Singles, reaching the semi finals. Nikolli couldn’t quite convert his opportunities in the semi final against Türkiye’s Ahmet Tukenmez. He lost the second set 12-10, but responded by taking the third 16-14, before losing the fourth, and also the match, with a final score of 3-1. Nishil Shah was one game away from a spot in the final, leading 2-1 against Stefan Bonchev (BUL), but couldn’t hang on, before losing the remaining sets. Bonchev went onto win the U13 Boys’ Singles.
