Held in Maizieres-les-Metz, France, the second World Table Tennis for Health Festival took place last week, October 24 – 27.
The WTT4H Festival has expanded this year due to the growing enthusiasm for the World Parkinson’s and World Alzheimer’s Table Tennis Championships, with players competiting from all around the world, showcasing the effect that practicing sport can have on neurological disorders. The event promoted the positive benefits of playing table tennis on health in general, not only for people with Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s, but also for illness prevention too as part of its larger remit and investment from the ITTF Group and Foundation.
Six English players took part in the World Parkinson’s Table Tennis Championships event; Julie Norris, Lynn Tearse, Michael Barlow-Pye, Kenneth Booth, Steve Loble and James Reynolds.
In the Men’s Double Class 4, Michael Barlow-Pye and James Reynolds progressed through to the knockout stages but were beaten in the Quarterfinals 3-0 by French Doubles pair Jean-Marc Roulon and Christophe Bouvet.
