This weekend Worthing Table Tennis Club held a new format of 1* Junior tournament and introduced an U11s event to the already successful line of events.

Keen to develop a clear pathway for players to enter competition after finding their local club the step can be a big one for the youngest entrants. The new U11 category means they can play others their age and get used to the big stage.

Another exciting step is the introduction of new umpires gaining their experience at local events.
Worthing TTC hosted a Level 1 Umpiring Course back in April and players are really enjoying the presence of qualified officials at more local tournaments.

Pictured below is newly qualified umpire Juan Carlos from Worthing TTC overseeing proceedings!

During the summer 1* Holly Holder and Tajudeen Alao also enjoyed their first event as umpires. On hand for advice this weekend was experienced umpire James Pettigrew. Worthing hopes to welcome many more new officials following their next qualification day in November.
