Sam Walker and Tom Jarvis defeated seeded players to move into the last 16 of the WTT Feeder Vila Nova de Gaia in Portugal.
Walker (WR 333) came through two qualifying rounds to take his place in the main draw – first beating South Korea’s Kim Daewoo in three straight and then Andrea Puppo of Italy, ranked 14 places above him at No 319, in four.
In the last 64, Walker (pictured above) sunk Martin Bentancor (WR 171), coming from 9-6 and 10-9 down to win the second game to go 2-0 up and, after the Argentinian had reduced the deficit, winning the fourth 12-10 on his third match point.
At the same stage, Jarvis (WR 196) entered the competition and had a 3-0 win over Slovenia’s Peter Hribar (WR 295).
Both English players faced seeds in the last 32 and both had super victories, with Walker removing 16th seed Kang Dongsoo of South Korea (WR 155) in a decider.
Walker took the first 11-7 and then saved a game point in winning the second 12-10. The third saw Walker have five match points from 10-9 onwards, only for Kang to save them all and then take his first chance to win the game 16-14.
Kang edged the fourth 11-9 but Walker was never behind in the decider and, although he was pegged back to 9-9, he won the next two points to move into the last 16.
There, he will face the top seed, Spain’s Alvaro Robles (WR 31). The match is scheduled for 1.10pm UK time on Table 2 today.
Jarvis, meanwhile, was up against 11th seed Matteo Mutti of Italy (WR 129) and continued his good recent form with a 3-1 win, comfortably taking the first, second and fourth games and narrowly missing out 11-9 in the third.
He will follow Walker on to Table 2 today at 1.45pm. His opponent is sixth seed and world No 77 Chen Yuanyu of China.

If both English players were to win, they would meet each other in the quarter-finals, repeating their meeting at last week’s WTT Feeder Dusseldorf.
