A theatre company is seeking table tennis-playing actors to bring a play centred around the sport to life.
The Storm in the North company is planning to create a full production of The Table Tennis Years, by Kevin Dyer, in 2022.
The play explores father-son relationships and how table tennis helps them to communicate and get through life’s challenges and crises.
The company and director Joe Sumsion are holding a development week in July to test the first draft of the script and experiment with ideas for staging the play, culminating in a reading/showing of parts of the play to an audience of invited industry professionals.
They are looking for male professional actors with table tennis skills to take part in the week, which is in Lancaster from July 5-9. One will be in the 35-50 age bracket and the other in the 13-19 bracket.
The parts are not ethnically specific and the closing date for applications – via Spotlight, the industry recruitment organisation – is June 7th.
