The Isle of Wight has table tennis players of all ages from nine to over 90. Here, we share news of achievements of two players with an age gap of almost 60 years.
Firstly, IoW Table Tennis Association Vice-Chairman, Tim Giles, travelled to Norfolk recently for the Over-70s Eastern Masters Handicapped Doubles Tournament held at Norwich University. He reached the final and is seen above left proudly wearing the medal that he received.
At the same time, 10-year-old Ollie Lewis (seen above right with his Dad Gareth and coach Elaine Mills) is being presented with his IoW Table Tennis certificate for having just entering the Island’s Winter League. He proudly wears his new table tennis sponsored shirt.
IoW Table Tennis Chairman, Alex Rorke says: “The Island Association is very keen to support young people developing their table tennis skills, and today we are celebrating Ollie’s progress. We are delighted for him and we hope that he continues to improve and enjoy his table tennis.
“We also congratulate Tim on his achievement in the Eastern Masters event and we thank him for his commitment and his work for our local Association. Well done to both Tim and Ollie.”
