There is sure to be plenty of drama as more than 350 players compete for titles on weekend two of the Junior British League at Derby Arena.
London Academy and Ormesby head the respective girls’ and boys’ Premier Divisions but are by no means assured of becoming champions.
London lead by two points from Grantham College, with defending champions Wensum a point further behind. With the top two players in the ratings (Tianer Yu and Mari Baldwin) in the Wensum ranks, they will not be giving up their title lightly.
London Academy and Grantham are respectively led by Sophie Barcsai and Hannah Silcock, who both won nine out of 10 matches on weekend one.
Look out too for Draycott, who have added Sophie Earley from the GB Junior Squad to their ranks and will be looking to move up, having won only one match last time.
The boys’ Premier sees Ormesby hold a three-point lead over Grantham Academy, with Ackworth eBaTT and Fusion another point behind.
Ormesby are led by Tom Rayner, who tops the averages on 90%, and it looks like their title to lose. But with plenty of talented players in the rival line-ups every team is capable of taking points off any other team.
In total there are 15 divisions being played at Derby Arena and the satellite venue at Nottingham TTC.
