GB’s Anna Hursey kept up her winning streak by taking her third successive WTT title – the WTT Youth Star Contender Metz.

Fresh from winning the Youth Contenders in Zrenjanin, Serbia, and in Metz, the Welsh athlete faced a step up in class for the Under-19 Girls’ Singles at the Youth Star Contender in the same French city.

Now ranked No 19 on the world Junior list, she was eighth seed for the event, and got through the group stage as a runner-up, behind Hu Yi of China, who beat her in three close games.

After defeating Lilou Massart of Belgium in the first round, she defeated world No 18 Junior Wu Ying Syuan 3-0 (11-4, 13-11, 12-10) in the quarter-finals and then beat world No 3 Junior and top seed Heo Yerim 3-0 (11-6, 11-7, 11-8) in the semis.

Her final opponent was Hu Yi once again but this time Hursey turned the tables on the world No 53, beating her 3-0 (11-9, 11-7, 14-12) to lift the title.

In the Under-19 Boys’ Singles, Connor Green was unable to make it out of his group, losing first to fifth seed and world No 19 Junior Alan Kurmangaliyev of Kazakhstan – who went on to win gld – and then to Nop 73-ranked Ma Yeongmin of South Korea.

Green, currently ranked at 49, won his final match against No 32-ranked Enrique Rios of Puerto Rico.

In the Under-15 Boys’ Singles, No 204-ranked Kacper Piwowar reached the knockout rounds, going out in the last 16 to Aditya Das of India (WR 297 Junior)

Abraham Sellado, ranked at 210, went out in the group stage, including defeat to higher-ranked Ladimir Mayorov of Spain.

Piwowar & Sellado reached the semi-finals of the Under-15 Boys’ Doubles, missing out 3-0 (11-9, 14-12, 11-9) second seeds Kenan Kahraman & Gorkem Ocal of Turkey, who went on to win the competition.

Piwowar & Maria Picu of Italy went out in the last 16 of the Under-15 Mixed to the top seeds from South Korea.

In the Under-19 Mixed Green & Mia Griesel of Germany went out 3-2 (11-6, 11-13, 12-10, 8-11, 11-4) to Rafal Formela & Natalia Bogdanowicz of Poland in the first round.

In the Under-19 Boys’ Doubles, Green & Kurmangaliyev saw opponents William Bergenblock (SWE) & Ankur Bhattacharjee (IND) come from 2-0 down to win 3-2 (4-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-9) in the first round.
