Charlotte Bardsley was beaten in the last 32 of the Junior Girls’ Singles to end English interest in the first phase of the European Youth Championships in Croatia.
Bardsley, the 17th seed, was defeated in four straight by 10th seed Camille Lutz of France.
Earlier, Bardsley & Mari Baldwin went out in the last 16 of the doubles, at the hands of Ivet Ilieva of Bulgaria & Ilona Sztwiertnia of Poland, who had defeated top seeds Elena Zaharia & Kornelija Riliskyte in the previous round.
The Junior competitions finish in Varazdin tomorrow and there is then a two-day break before the Cadet tournament starts on Tuesday.
