This month I would like to focus on the Open Tournament Scene because there have been a few changes but to start with a request to all County Organisers.
Before any Tournament Organisers can get their events approved, we need to communicate with their respective counties. Recently we have noticed that quite a lot of counties details on TTE’s Sport 80 online membership system are not currently accurate. This could be because of the latest round of AGM’s that have just taken place.
So as part of our ongoing effort to ensure that all county information is accurate and up to date, we kindly ask each county to review and update their online records. This mainly includes Secretary, Chair and National Councillor.
If you need any help with this, please ask.
While we all start planning our 2025/26 playing and in advance of the new season starting, I hope you will be interested to see the following Open Tournament info that is now published on TTE’s website:
… this is probably worth a read, even for those that don’t engage directly with the Open Tournaments. The key principles apply across all our events.
- Player Pathway Start competing – Table Tennis England
An interactive model showing TTE competition formats by age-group and by standard
- Tournaments Explained Tournament organiser – Table Tennis England
A new one-stop resource to provides an overview of Open Tournaments:
• to help Tournament Organisers fulfil their role and duties effectively
• to illustrate recommended standards in relation to regulatory minimums
• to provide practical illustrations of how the regulations apply
This is aimed at both first-time and experienced tournament organisers.
Coaching CPD
On Saturday 6th Sept we are hosting a CPD training session in Tamworth for coaches aiming at upskilling techniques while starting new U11 players off.
What will the event cover:
- TT Kidz training, meaning you will be able to deliver straight away should you wish to deliver the programme. This will include theory and practical.
- Networking time – speak to other coaches and volunteers on set topics
- Upskilling on delivering activity for junior players.
