Brighton Table Tennis Club is celebrating moving into its brand new accessible table tennis venue which expands its community work in the city.

The club is up and running at the venue in Moulescoomb, where they will be open for table tennis, food and to serve local people seven days a week.

The venue, which adds to the club’s base in Kemptown, was funded through a £250,000 grant from the London Marathon Foundation and further support from Sport England.

Paralympic medallists Will Bayley and Bly Twomey attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony this week along with dozens of club members.

The club will have a 25-year lease from the Catholic Diocese of Arundel and Brighton.

Founder Tim Holtam described the opening day as the best in the history of the club, which started in 2007.

He said: “Everyone at Brighton Table Tennis Club is incredibly excited about opening an additional venue in the heart of Moulsecoomb. It will massively grow our capacity to bring table tennis, and all the benefits that come with it, to even more people.

“We believe no one should be excluded from accessing community sport, and pride ourselves on being accessible and affordable to all.”
