Liam Pitchford & Paul Drinkhall started the defence of their Commonwealth Games Men’s Doubles title with a fine win over Scotland’s Gavin Rumgay & Colin Dalgleish, and they were joined in the last 16 by Sam Walker & Tom Jarvis.
Ho withstands Jersey storm, but Bardsley goes out
Tin-Tin Ho moved safely through her opening Women’s Singles match at the Commonwealth Games, though not without a scare at the hands of 15-year-old Hannah Silcock of Jersey. However, Charlotte Bardsley went out to the ninth seed.
Jarvis & Bardsley fight back to sink second seeds
Tom Jarvis & Charlotte Bardsley staged a brilliant fightback to go through to the last 16 of the Commonwealth Games Mixed Doubles. Liam Pitchford & Tin-Tin Ho are also through, but there was agony for Sam Walker & Maria Tsaptsinos, who went out in a deciding game earlier in the day.
