On International Women’s Day, three of the British Para table tennis team’s women shone in the doubles events at the ITTF Lignano Masters Para Open in Italy.
Golds boost McKibbin and Twomey Paralympic hopes
Aaron McKibbin and 13-year-old Bly Twomey enhanced their qualification hopes for the Paralympic Games in Paris by taking gold in the men’s class 8 singles and women’s class 7 singles respectively at the ITTF Lignano Masters Para Open in Italy.
Silver at the treble for Para GB players in Kazakhstan
The British Para table tennis team took three medals in the doubles events on the final day of the ITTF Astana Para Open in Kazakhstan with Will Bayley & Martin Perry (men’s class 14), Megan Shackleton with Tamara Leonelli Leonelli (women’s class 5-10) and Grace Williams with Raisa Chebanika (women’s class 14) all taking silver in their respective events.

World No 1 Will Bayley, the ITTF Male Para Player of the Year in 2023, made a winning start to 2024 and continued his unbeaten run by taking gold in the men’s class 7 singles at the ITTF Astana Para Open in Kazakhstan.

Ryan mighty! Chris wins his first international gold medal
Chris Ryan, who led the GB wheelchair rugby team to Paralympic gold in Tokyo, won his first gold medal since switching to table tennis in 2022 when combining with Spanish partner Daniel Rodriguez to win the men’s class 4 doubles on the final day of the ITTF Brazilian Para Open in Sao Paulo.

Megan Shackleton took gold in the women’s class 4-5 singles at the ITTF Brazilian Para Open in Sao Paulo, and there was a silver for Chris Ryan and a bronze for Ashley Facey.
Facey looking to add to maiden title in Brazil
Recently crowned US Open champion Ashley Facey is looking to follow-up his men’s class 9 singles gold medal in Texas earlier this month with another medal-winning performance in the 2024 ITTF Brazilian Para Open taking place in Sao Paulo from February 1-4.

Ashley Facey won his second gold medal at the ITTF US Para Open in Corpus Christi, Texas, combining with Joshua Stacey to win the men’s class 18 doubles.
