Newly appointed Table Tennis England Chair Nick Donald visited a recent session at Pride of Table Tennis Awards Club of the Year Worthing TTC.
Sally Hughes, who was elected to the Board in June, welcomed Nick to the club to talk about the history and development of their community over the last two years as well as the plans for the future to expand the offer of table tennis in the local area.
The club holds two sessions on a Friday evening – an open session for all-comers to come and try table tennis and an elite training session for advanced players.
Nick was able to experience the atmosphere first-hand, meet the players and staff and better understand the club’s ambitions, as well as receiving some coaching from the club’s Head Coach, Matt Porter.
Nick is pictured above with Matt Porter (back left), Pedro Santos – Founder (front left), Amanda Newton-Worne – Coach (front centre) and Sally Hughes – Operations Director. Below, Nick receives some coaching from Matt while Table Tennis England Director Ray James plays talented junior James Fryer.
The club will be hosting its first official tournament on December 16. The tournament is already 70% full but does have space in the female events, including the U19s, O19s and Open Event for all ages.
