While the Galleywood A team continue to acclimatize to life in division 1, Galleywood B & C teams sit at the summit of divisions 3 & 4 with perfect records of four wins.
Division 1
Chelmsford A gained some breathing space at the top of division 1 with an 8-2 win over Danbury C. Harry Chivers saw action for the first time this season and was up and running straight away with a hat-trick against Danbury C.
Chivers won 3-0 against each of Sanjay Saptarshi, Trevor Lloyd and James Donald, with his team-mates Gary Young and Kaung Htet Paing clinching two wins each. Match of the night was a five-game battle between Paing and Donald which saw the latter comfortably win the decisive game.
Donald had earlier produced a fine 3-0 victory over Young – joining Sam Lowman as the only player to beat the Chelmsford man in 12 matches this season.
OCA A remain second despite a 6-4 reverse against Danbury A. Eric Green, Chris Penrose and Babel McLeod all doubled up for the hosts while Mark Mulley beat Green and Penrose.
Writtle A won their first match since the opening week of the season with a 7-3 scoreline at Galleywood A. Kevin Read gained three wins in his first appearances this season dropping just one game in the process, Lee McHugh also scored a treble winning 3-2 against Jamie Hicks in the closest match of the evening.
Division 2
Richard Storey achieved his second hat-trick of the season though it was not enough to prevent his Writtle B side going down 7-3 to the unbeaten division 2 leaders Chelmsford C.
Storey beat Mark Allaway, Victor Chan and Waseem Qureshi all by a 3-1 scoreline though Allaway, Chan and Qureshi all pulled off two victories for Chelmsford.
Danbury D sit in second place as David Gatheral and Sanjay Saptarshi both hit trebles in a 7-3 win against previously unbeaten Hatfield Peverel A. Saptarshi dropped just one game on the night while Gatheral overturned a 2-0 deficit against Alastair Piper. Saptarshi and Gatheral teamed up to beat Piper and Julie Johnson in four games.
Despite the loss, third placed Hatfield Peverel are just two points behind the leaders.
Danbury F beat Maldon A 7-3 thanks to hat-tricks from Gus Heath and Chris Buer. Heath’s three victories were all by a 3-0 scoreline while Buer dropped one game in each of his. Steve Buer was involved in three five-game matches, winning the first against Colin Napper but losing out to Hamish Innes and Lloyd Bennett-Smith.
Mick Richardson hit his third treble of the season as his OCA B team beat Chelmsford D 7-3. Richardson was well assisted by Daivd Porter and Michael Hayes who won two matches each.
Dusan Doszkoty came the closest to handing Richardson his second defeat of the season by pushing him in five games – this was one of two five game losses Doszkoty experienced on the night and has seen 3-2 losses in seven of his nine games this season – however he went on to snap this streak with a 3-0 win over Porter.
Danbury E and Danbury G remain winless this season following a 5-5 draw. Denis Balic claimed two good wins against Neil Want and Dick Whyman but was bested by Tony Forster who cruised through the last three games having trailed 2-0. Forster’s fightback was replicated by Denis Crapnell who trailed Forster 2-0 before winning the last three games at a canter.
Division 3
Galleywood B sit top of division 3 having retained their unbeaten start to the season with an 8-2 victory at Chelmsford E. Gary Brignall and John Holland won three games apiece with Brignall not losing a game and Holland only the one.
Rev Matthews and Steve Kerns played in the tightest contest of the night with Matthews winning 3-2 (11-3, 11-9, 13-15, 7-11, 15-13).
Writtle D are in second place after handing Chelmsford F their fourth successive loss of the season in a 7-3 scoreline. Malcolm Henstock hit his first treble of the season but was well tested by Omar Wasi and Pav Srinivasamurthy who he both beat 3-1 in close encounters.
A second hat-trick of the season for Richard Baxter helped his OCA C team retain their unbeaten start in a 6-4 victory over Buttsbury A. Alex Ware and Charles Yeung both won twice for Buttsbury with the latter surviving a Luke Richardson fightback having led 2-0. Ware had led Baxter 2-1 before the OCA man stepped up his levels to win the final two games.
Dave Powell earned three wins dropping just one game in the process as Danbury K beat Danbury H 6-4. Powell won a tight encounter with Peter Lucraft who himself won two matches.
Neil Freeman scored his third hat-trick in four appearances for Hatfield Peverel B as they beat Danbury J 7-3. Paul Mulley also hit a treble while Danbury’s Gordon Gatheral withstood a Peter Mortensen fightback to win 3-2 having led 2-0.
Division 4
Galleywood C made it four wins out of four this season with a 6-4 victory over Maldon B. Mark Glennister hit his second hat-trick in a row and he was well backed up by a Will Goodchild double. While unable to find a win, Galleywood’s Nathan Blore endured a long evening with three five game losses. Brian Riedling chipped in with two wins for Maldon.
Buttsbury B sit in second place but fell to their first loss of the season at the hands of Chelmsford G by a 7-3 scoreline. Cleon Fernandes hit his second treble in two weeks for Chelmsford and he was well backed up by Grace Liu who earned two wins – one a 3-2 victory over Oscar Hutt. Chelmsford’s Vishnu Surendran overturned a 2-0 deficit to beat Oscar Hutt.
John Manning capped his first appearance in division 4 this season with a well earned hat-trick as his Danbury L side beat Hatfield Peverel D 6-4. Manning scored a treble the previous week in division five and was pushed hard by Gary Simmons – finally winning 14-12 in the fifth game. Alex Wilson of Danbury narrowly lost out in two five-game matches against both Bob Hills and Gary Simmons.
Three wins for Farooq Ahmed helped OCA D to a 7-3 win at Highwood A. Ahmed was well tested by both Roger Patient and Melanie Bonnett whom he both beat by a 3-2 scoreline, with Patient also beating David Newman in five games.
Division 5
Danbury M remain unbeaten at the top following a narrow 6-4 win over Chelmsford H. There were two wins apiece for Danbury’s Oliver Martin and Graham Naggs while David Smith fell to his first defeats of the season in losses to James Grindlay and Shenbing Zhu. Jacqui Smith won two matches for Chelmsford – both were from losing positions.
Chelmsford J trounced Galleywood D 9-1 with three wins for both David Parker and Sami Osman as well as a double from Mark Nolan. Parker did not lose a game all night and his dominance was apparent in dropping just 12 points in his match with Arran Goodridge and 11 points against Paul Cockrell. Sami Osman continued his unbeaten start to the season in the Chelmsford Junior league though he had to fight back from 2-1 down against Steve Peacock.
Third placed OCA E continued their fine start to the season with a 7-3 victory over ARU. David Bishop earned his second hat-trick in under a week failing to drop a game along the way. ARU’s Yaseen Nechat was involved in two matches which went to five games – a win over Suzanne Shaw and a loss to Matthew Porter. Nechat and Porter shared a tight 11-6, 10-12, 10-12, 12-10, 10-12 scoreline.
Highwood B earned a third win in four and sit in fourth place thanks to a Dave Cockrell treble in their 7-3 win over Writtle F. Martin Goddard chipped in with two wins for Highwood while Writtle’s Paul Aarons earned his first two wins of the season.
Chelmsford Junior League division 1A
CTTC remain flawless at the top of CJL1A after three games as Amir Chetitah and Sami Osman won two matches apiece in a 5-0 win against CTTC Eagles. The Cougars duo came through a see-saw doubles match with Kuzey Musabak and Nathanael Slade in five games.
Oliver Martin won both of his individual matches as Danbury Dragons beat Buttsbury Bears 3-2. Martin continued his fine start to the season having won six out of six for Danbury M in division five. Martin partnerd Peter Harverson to win a tight doubles against Joseph Hutt and Thomas Lewis.
Chelmsford Junior League division 1B
Hutton Hawks are well clear at the top of CJL2A having earned 5-0 wins in a week against both CTTC Jaguars and Buttsbury Bulldogs. Charlie Gould, Noah Middleton, Joshua Freeman and Jago Ware all won their matches 3-0.
Ryan Peiris and Neriyan Tharmassas both won their matches 3-0 as the CTTC Leopards beat the CTTC Panthers 5-0. Peiris takes his record for the season to four wins out of four.
Chelmsford Junior League division 1C
Louis Marsan earned two wins as CTTC Rhinos beat the CTTC Pumas 3-2. Max Locke-Wheaton and Taylor Cumber earned wins over Connor Ke – the latter by a tight 3-2 scoreline.
Billy Andrews earned two 3-0 wins on debut as the Hutton Harriers won 4-1 at the CTTC Lions. Georgina Major overturned a 2-0 deficit to beat Archie Giles 3-2 to win the Lions’ sole point.
CTTC Rhinos beat the Buttsbury Bats 3-2 despite Shay Coughlan earning two wins for the Bats. Coughlan fended off a fightback by Louis Marsan to win 14-12 in the fifth game.
