About Be TT

Be TT is an enhanced club and league development programme that will provide our most forward-thinking clubs greater support.

Be TT is a Table Tennis England support programme for affiliated clubs and leagues, designed to build better experiences across our sport.

Led by extensive research and data from playing habits across the country, the programme allows Table Tennis England staff to work closely with clubs and leagues to improve the experience of those who play, coach, volunteer, or officiate in our sport.

Be TT was launched in 2017 and has already provided some of our most forward-thinking clubs and leagues the chance to receive focused staff support and trial exciting new club management and data tools.

The most recent completed year of Be TT was Year 3, which focused on supporting projects engaging with women and girls, running short format leagues and growing the game for U11s. As part of the U11 focus, Be TT supported the first phase of clubs running TT Kidz.

Year 3 Be TT had the most applications so far with 66 applications from 50 PremierClubs, 14 leagues and 1 joint club and league project. We supported 39 clubs, 10 leagues and 1 club and leagues projects.

Some Year 3 projects delivering in the final quarter were impacted by the outbreak of COVID-19 and the lockdown restrictions in place. Towards the end of Year 3, Back to TT was also launched. This is a programme aimed at engaging people back into the sport and within its first week 19 clubs and leagues were signed up to deliver the programme.

Be TT Year 4

Year 4 applications are now open and 50% of Year 4 of Be TT and satellite funding has been re-allocated into supporting Table Tennis England’s clubs and leagues to be in a position to re-start their activity when restrictions are lifted.

This will be used to encourage clubs and leagues to plan activity for when we are able to resume activities. The activity funded will be used to re-engage with existing members but also for those new individuals who may have been engaged in TT by family members or our online content and are looking to take the next step in the sport.  We are open to imaginative and innovative ideas from clubs and leagues. A few ideas around areas we will fund:

  • TT Kidz starter for new clubs being involved in the programme
  • Start up costs for using our programme such as Bat and Chat or Back to TT. These can be used to engage with existing members or harder to reach audiences e.g. Female only Bat and Chat
  • Women & girls-focused sessions or programmes
  • Support to grow new league divisions
  • Coaching sessions or activities dedicated to engaging those in deprived areas, LSEG or BAME groups

Sport England have released community support funding specifically for those impacted by COVID19. However we appreciate that not all clubs or leagues will be successful in the application process. There will be a small amount of funding available to help any clubs or leagues that have been severely impacted by COVID19 and will struggle or not be able to function going forward into the 20/21 season. Please contact us directly about this on [email protected]
