England national over-60s men’s singles champion, Diccon Gray from Benenden, picked up two over-60s titles at the IFO Veteran Open, Gothenburg, Sweden, played over the weekend. The tournament is part of the Veterans International Calendar.

The left-handed Gray (pictured above), a member of the Weald TT Club currently based at Benenden, won the men’s singles, defeating Sweden’s Christer Warngren 3-1 (11-6, 11-9, 4-11, 13-11) in the final.

Partnered by Warngren, he also won the men’s doubles, overcoming Stefan Sandberg and Freddy Bergqvist of the host nation 3-2 (8-11, 13-11, 11-7, 11-13, 11-2) in the final. However, he went out in the semi-final stage of the men’s team event.

Players from several Scandinavian and other European countries participated.
