Eight male English athletes were in action over the weekend at the WTT Youth Contender Otocec.

Connor Green put in some great performances to reach the Round of 32 in the Under-17 Boys’ Singles, and Kacper Piwowar dominated his group in the Under-13 Boys’ Singles, eventually going out in the Roudn of 16.

Under-19 Boys’ Singles

Joseph Hunter was the only English out of six to qualify from their group, but unfortunately couldn’t get past Germany’s Wim Verdonschot in the Round of 64, losing 3-0.

Under-17 Boys’ Singles

All six English boys competing in the Under-17 Boys’ Singles qualified from their groups – James Hamblett, Felix Thomis, Connor Green, Toby Ellis, Jakub Piwowar and Joseph Hunter. Connor Green managed to beat Julian Fellinger 3-0 in the Round of 64 to make him the only English player to reach the Round of 32, but couldn’t France’s Adrien Coton and lost 3-0 to end his U17 competition.

Jakub Piwowar won his group to go through to the last 32, where he was edged out 3-2 by Colombia’s Emanuel Otalvaro. The younger Piwowar brother, Kacper, was unable to reach the knockout stage.

England youngster Kacper Piwowar looked very strong in his group in which he qualified in the top position. However, he couldn’t overcome India’s Aarnav Naveen Chandra in a tight 3-2 loss in the Round of 16.
