Twelve talented England young players are playing in the International School Sports Federation Gymnasiade in Bahrain competing in team and individual competitions in the U18 age group at the tournament, from October 23 to November 1

Team events

The England schools teams narrowly missed out on medals in the team events, both England 1st teams played in the semi finals and both-teams lost to Chinese Taipei – the girls 4-0 and the boys 4-1. 

The second teams were playing for places 5-8 and both lost to Brazil- the boys 4-1 and the girls in a very close 4-3.

The boys 1 then lost 4-0 to China to finish 4th, the girls 1 lost 4-1 to USA to also finish 4th.

Boys 2 lost to Saudi Arabia 4-3 to finish 8th and the girls 2 finished 7th.

Individual events

The youngsters have made an impressive start in the individual events, with Hannah Silcock, Naomi Coker, Isaac Kingham, Alex Lui, Hiko Yan, Joe Dennison and Krish Chotai all winning their groups.

Results are as follows:

Hannah Silcock beat Agrawal (India) 3-0, Aslanova (Aze) 3-0 and beat Song (USA) 3-0. First in group. 

 Ella Pashley lost to Li (China) 0-3, beat Eseza (Uganda) 3:0, lost to Asgarova (Azerbaijan) 1-3. Third in group. 

 Lowri Hurd lost to Peng (Taipei) 0-3, beat Hilda (Uganda) 3-0, and beat Jhaveri (India) 3-0. Second in group. 

 Naomi Coker beat Alyami (KSA) 3-0, beat Swabra (Uganda) 3-0, beat Alves (Brazil) 3-2, beat Chen (USA) 3-0. First in group. 

Mabel Shute beat Salem (KSA) 3-0, lost to Yuan (China) 1-3, lost to Thapa (Nepal) 0-3. Third in group. 

Saskia Key lost to Hsieh (Taipei) 0-3, beat Alzahrani (KSA) 3-0, lost to Tamura (Brazil) 2-3. Third in group. 

Isaac Kingham beat Albayaydah (KSA) 3-0, beat Simon (Italy) 3-0, beat Ebrahim (Bahrain) 3-0, beat Stojabovski (North Macedonia) 3-0. First in group. 

Alex Liu beat De Sibbi (Italy) 3-0, beat Ali (Bahrain) 3-1, beat Fujii (Brazil) 3-2, Ukasha (Uganda) 3-0. First in group. 

Hiko Yan beat Alasheeri (Bahrain) 3-0, beat Jakimovski (North Macedonia) 3-0, beat Hossain (Bangladesh) 3-0. First in group. 

Joe Dennison beat Bernardov (Bulgaria) 3-0, beat Mansoor (Bahrain) 3-1, beat Gore (India) 3-0. First in group. 

 Krish Chotai beat Shafic (Uganda) 3-0, beat Vaschev (Bulgaria) 3-0, beat Ogarwal (India) 3-0. First in group. 

Ben Dunkley beat Sharma (UAE) 3-0, lost to Ursut (Romania) 1-3, beat Juma (Uganda) 3-0. Second in group.
