The England Schools team has been confirmed for the Primary Schools International from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 April at Sport Wales National Sports Centre in Wales.

The England squad will be up against teams from Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Guernsey and Jersey.

England will be defending both team titles which they won at the 2024 edition of the event in Jersey, where they also won a total of six singles medals.

The teams are:

Boys: Jayden Xuan Chen (Norwood Primary School, Peterborough), SaiSurya Prasanna Kumar (Cippenham School, Cippenham, Slough), Zacharia Sarri (London Academy Primary School, Edgware), Oliver Glowacki (St Edmund’s & St Thomas’ Catholic Primary School, Liverpool); Non-Playing Captain: Dave Pilkington.

Girls: Cindy Xiao (Castor C of E Primary School, Castor, Peterborough), Phoebe O’Brien (pictured above, St Martin’s C of E Primary School, Scarborough), Alexia-Bianca Ciobanica (London Academy Primary School, Edgware), Mindy Gao (Bankfields Primary School, Middlesborough); NPC: Teresa Bennett.

The Head of Delegation is Kate Hughes and the English umpires are Harry Jutle and Alan Thomas.

Kate Hughes said: “The England Schools Committee is delighted to once again select a strong squad for the forthcoming Primary Schools Internationals in Cardiff in April.

“We hope the experience of playing international competition early in the players’ table tennis careers will help them progress successfully in the future.

“Thank you to the schools’ county secretaries for nominating the players, and we hope to see these and many others at the National Schools Individual and Team Finals at the end of April.”
