As part of the ever-developing Swansea University table tennis programme, a yearly international Swansea Open, returning for its second year after a covid break, will take place on February 26-27 at the University’s Sketty Lane Sports Centre, home of the Welsh National Pool.
The two-day event will see events from under-11 to under-21 on the Saturday and Men’s and Women’s and Veterans’ events on the Sunday. Each event will have a main event and a plate event.
Table tennis at Swansea University is one of six high-performance sports with athletes receiving high-performance coaching, sport science services, athlete lifestyle management, physiotherapy and strength and conditioning support.
James Mountain, the university’s Strategic Sports Manager, said: “Swansea University is delighted to open our doors to the table tennis community and invite players to compete at the Swansea Open. This event is of huge significance to us and demonstrates our commitment and intent on delivering table tennis opportunities throughout the player pathway in partnership with Table Tennis Wales.”
