Our Olympic athletes
Liam Pitchford and Anna Hursey are representing Team GB in the singles events – it is Liam’s fourth Olympic Games, while it is Anna’s debut – and she is the first Welsh table tennis athlete to represent Team GB at an Olympic Games. Hear from Liam and Anna below!
About the games
Paris 2024 will be the first Olympics with full gender parity, and table tennis aligns with 86 male and 86 female players. Players from 60 countries across all continents, ranging from 16 years old (Miwa Harimoto, JPN) to 61 (Ni Xia Lian, LUX), will take part; with the great Timo Boll already announcing this will be his last games. Watch out for the home stars, the French Lebrun brothers and Sun Yingsha’s attempt at completing the Grand Slam (World Champs, World Cup and Olympics).
There are five events, with the finals as follows:
Mixed Doubles – 30 Jul
Women’s Singles – 3 Aug
Men’s Singles – 4 Aug
Men’s Team – 9 Aug
Women’s Team – 10 Aug
