South Yorkshire has just scored a major win, with two of the sport’s top coaching figures launching regular training camps for young players in Sheffield. This exciting development is set to aid South Yorkshire in their ambition for excellence in table tennis, offering local youth access to world-class coaching right in their backyard.

The sessions will be led by Matjaz Sercer, a highly qualified coach who currently serves as GB Paralympic Pathway Coach and has previously coached England’s youth team and Slovenia’s national youth team. With a wealth of experience coaching european champions, olympians, and paralympic medallists, Matjaz’s expertise is second to none. Assisting him will be Bogdan Dekic, former croatian youth national coach and croatian paralympic coach, making this a formidable coaching duo.

The weekend camps will be held monthly at the Table Tennis Hall of the English Institute of Sport Sheffield (S9 5DA), with the first session scheduled for 12th and 13th October. Open to all players under 16—regardless of age or ability—these camps are designed for youngsters eager to enhance their table tennis skills.

To secure a spot, participants must email Matjaz Sercer at [email protected] by 8th October. Future camps, including the November session on the 9th and 10th, will be announced on the Sheffield Junior Table Tennis Facebook page. Don’t miss this chance to be part of a regional Table Tennis revolution!
