The first step towards formalising a new GB Junior Squad has been taken, with the publication of a selection policy.

The creation of the squad was made possible with the £1.35 million Progression Funding Award by UK Sport to GB Table Tennis through to the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Two of the main objectives of the investment are:

• To deliver a cohort of athletes to academy standard as defined by the performance matrix agreed with UK Sport
• To develop a GB performance pathway which enables and supports the growth of future GB table tennis players

To align with these objectives, the squad will have both a performance and a development section.

Players from the Home Nations are eligible to apply and a selection process will be undertaken to choose the players. The two tiers of the squad are due to be selected by mid-January. Each player will need to be endorsed by their home nation for the development section.
