Sam Walker and Tin-Tin Ho picked up good wins in qualifying at the WTT Star Contender Ljubljana, but Tom Jarvis is out.

Walker, currently ranked 179, beat No 140 Tomas Polansky of Czechia in three straight to set up a tie against Liao Cheng-Ting of Chinese Taipei (WR 91) in the second qualifying round.

Liam Pitchford is also competing in Slovenia – he is seeded into the last 64 and will play a qualifier.

Meanwhile, in the Women’s Singles, Ho faced Camille Lutz of France, who at No 87 is 76 places above her in the world. But Ho was always in front as she won 3-2 and next plays Bernadett Balint (HUN, WR 310).

Walker & Ho went out in a close match in the Mixed Doubles, twice coming from a game down to level but going out in the decider to Samuel Kulczcki & Anna Wegrzyn of Poland.

Pitchford & Jarvis begin their Men’s Doubles campaign in the second qualifying round against Angel Naranjo & Daniel Gonzalez of Puerto Rico at 3pm UK time on Tuesday.
