Grantham Academy will be gunning for glory on both fronts as the Junior British League reaches a climax this weekend.

Their boys team may already have one hand on the trophy as they hold a five-point lead at the top of the Premier Division, having won all five matches last time out.

If their rivals – Urban and Ormesby are the nearest to them – have some hope, it may be in the fact that the leaders won four of their five matches 4-2 on weekend one and so may not be unbeatable.

They have the same trio available to them – Elias Sjogren, Toby Ellis and Adam Dennison – but with a host of top-20 players in the division, there are sure to be plenty of keenly contested matches.

The girls’ Premier Division is closer and Grantham lead London Academy only by virtue of the individual match ratio.

The top two won four matches and drew 3-3 with each other, and both have strengthened their squads. Grantham add Jersey’s Hannah Silcock to Tianer Yu and Maria Girlea, while Sophie Barcsai comes into the London ranks, alongside Sienna Jetha and Scarlett Anders.

More than 350 players will be competing across 15 divisions at Derby Arena and Draycott & Long Eaton TTC.
