Table tennis clubs are invited to help the search for talented para players – and can apply for a grant to help them do so.

In partnership with UK Sport, British Para Table Tennis had secured funding to deliver a series of talent recruitment days. In partnership with table tennis clubs, the days will consist of training sessions to identify and develop talent, whilst simultaneously raising awareness and interest around the Paralympic Games.

There will be eight awards available of £1,000 for each club. There will be a requirement that each club delivers a minimum of one talent recruitment sessions and six training sessions on the following schedule:

The start date can vary in weeks commencing August 26, September 2 or 9, followed by six weeks of coaching sessions.

Together with each club, British Para Table Tennis (BPTT) will promote these sessions online and through various media sources.

The aim for the talent recruitment days and training sessions is to raise awareness of Para Table Tennis and to find new potential athletes through a positive experience.

After the final sessions have taken place, all athletes and coaches from all clubs will be invited to EIS Sheffield on October 30 to be part of an open day and eligibility day at the home of British Para Table Tennis, where there will be classifiers in attendance.

BPTT would like clubs to capture details of all potential para athletes attending. Whether your club is successful or not with funding, we would still like to support you in developing links with the Toyota, Everybody Moves Campaign, promoting your table tennis activity around the Paralympic Games, and beyond.

For all clubs interested, there will be a recommendation to promote the British Para Table Tennis Pathway within the club, and British Para Table Tennis will upload all clubs onto table finder as venues for potential para players to attend.

If you and your club are interested, please download and complete the form below and return to [email protected] by the closing date of July 19. Successful clubs will be communicated to in the week commencing July 29.
