Table Tennis England wishes to congratulate International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) President Petra Sorling on her election as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Ms Sorling (pictured above) was elected at the IOC’s Session in Mumbai, where eight new members were elected. Among the other new members are Oscar-winning actress, and former Malaysian junior squash champion, Michelle Yeoh.

It is the first time an ITTF President has become an IOC member, and Ms Sorling said: “I am deeply humbled and grateful to have been elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee. This is not just an honour but also a significant responsibility that I am ready to embrace.”
