Tom Jarvis picked up a superb 3-0 victory over a top-100 Chinese opponent at the WTT Contender Durban in South Africa today.

Up against the penholder Xue Fei in the last 32, Jarvis (WR 121) turned in a dominant performance and never looked in trouble against an opponent ranked 53 places above him at No 68.

Jarvis will face China’s Lin Shidong (WR 46) in the last 16 at 4pm UK time on Friday – watch live on the WTT YouTube channel (Table 1).

Paul Drinkhall joined the action in the last 32 later with a clash against top seed and world No 7 Hugo Calderano of Brazil, and found the going tough as his opponent eased to a 3-0 victory.

Drinkhall and Jarvis are also paired up in doubles, where they have a bye to the quarter-finals, which will be played on Friday.
