Sienna Jetha reached the quarter-finals and Evelyn Pace also made the knockout stages at the WTT Youth Contender Wladyslawowo in Poland.
Jetha (pictured above) was in action in the under-13s and under-15s and she qualified from the group stage in both. In the younger category, she advanced in second place in her group, although she came close to beating group winner Laura Milos of Germany in a remarkable match, showing great fighting qualities before losing 3-2 (11-9, 11-6, 15-17, 12-14, 11-8).
The quarter-finals saw another 3-2 defeat, this time to Iarina Precup of Romania in a close match.
Jetha did, however, defeat Precup in the under-15s to progress to the round of 32, where she was defeated by Lena Gottschlich of Germany.
Pace was unable to make it out of the groups in the under-19 girls’ competition, but she did so in the under-17s thanks to a great 3-2 win – 14-12 in the decider – against Aylin Asgarova of Azerbaijan. She was defeated in four games in the last 64 by France’s Gaetane Bled, the 11th seed.
